“The
safest road to hell is the gradual one – the gentle slope, soft underfoot,
without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts.” C. S. Lewis
Satan
is sly and often tricks us very gradually into his schemes. Be careful today
what you justify and what you allow, because too often it can lead to much
more.
Genesis 39-40
Joseph
was a man of integrity. How did he maintain his integrity? How can we today?
What
did Joseph learn while working for Potiphar? What does this teach us about work
ethic?
Do
you think that there are many in our culture that have an issue with work
ethic? How can we motivate them (or yourself if the shoe fits)?
What
was Joseph’s perspective on sexual sin?
Joseph
was thrown into prison for a crime he did not commit. He may have been
forgotten by his former master, but he was not forgotten by God. How can we see
God’s blessing and protection during this time?
Can
you think of a time in your life when you believed for were forgotten, but
looking back you can see the hand of God?
Joseph
was faithful while in prison and worked hard. God was with him and allowed him
to be able to interpret dreams. The chief butler forgot Joseph and what he had
done for him. Have you been guilty of forgetting the kindness others have shown
you? However, God had not forgotten him.
Matthew 13:1-23
Jesus
was a master at using everyday objects and occupations to teach spiritual
lessons. In this chapter there eight images he uses. We too must learn to
relate to the world around us and to the people around us if we are going to
teach spiritual truths.
The
first image he uses is soil. Any farmer can tell you the type and quality of
the soil with dictate to a great extent what can grow. In the same way we have
to be receptive to the truth to hear it. What type of soil are you?
Why
did Jesus tell parables? I think there are two reasons.
Psalm 10:11-18
We
may try to deceive ourselves into thinking that God does not see or care about
our evil deeds, but He does and there will be a day of reckoning.
God
is a friend to the fatherless and to the weak, are you?
God
hears the prayers of those who call out to Him, never forget that. There will
come a time when all oppression and evil is defeated. We can praise God that He
is King and always will be King.
Proverbs 2:12-14
In
what way can wisdom deliver you from evil?
Pray
today about your purity and integrity.
Pray
today that your heart and mind is open to the teachings and leading of God (you
are good soil).
Pray
today for those that are caught up in evil that they will see the light.
Pray
for wisdom.
Today
is Saturday, please take time to prepare yourself for worship tomorrow morning.
